What is News in Education (NIE)?



The NIE program has provided educational access to the newspaper for thousands of Ohio students over the past several decades. Now, educators and students in our region can get a digital subscription to the Dayton Daily News free of charge. The News in Education subscription provides access to the Dayton Daily News, Springfield News-Sun and Journal-News.



These daily publications serve Butler, Champaign, Clark, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, Preble and Warren counties in Ohio.



Reading the news equips students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset needed to be informed, engaged, and responsible members of society.



Through the support of our subscribers, we provide this service at no cost to students, schools or educators.



Contributing to News in Education helps students build a wide range of skills to meet educational standards: reading complex texts, assessing the credibility of sources and conducting research. All while building an understanding of history in the making, current events and improving reading and comprehension.
